"Frankenstein" is one of the most famous classic tales in the world, but probably also the most misunderstood of them all.
The book begins with an introduction by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, which presents the context of the story, including her influences as a writer and why she wrote the book.
Mary Shelley was eighteen years old when she finished "Frankenstein". Her parents were William Godwin, political philosopher and novelist, and Mary Wollstonecraft, pioneering feminist writer and women's rights advocate.
The story begins as a series of letters between two main characters, which set the stage. Afterwards, the writing adopts a narrative style to develop and complete the tale.
As with many classic fiction books, much of our past history is reflected in these pages, allowing us to understand a bygone era.
This book is inspired by various contemporary philosophies and sciences of the time, which were rapidly evolving and even polarizing society.
